Swapped my usual moody Scottish greens for the warm ochres and pinks of California. This is the Kaweah River looking up toward Sequoia National Park. The way the Alpenglow hit the peaks created such a strong contrast against the cool river shadows, I just had to paint it. It was a fun challenge to capture that fleeting "golden hour" light!
