'Ryvoan Bothy', Cairngorms National Park, 46x23cm oil on board (framed)

Ryvoan Bothy is situated in the Ryvoan Pass in the Cairngorms National Park, near Aviemore and Nethy Bridge. It sits near Lochan Uaine (The Green Lochan), surrounded by ancient Caledonian Scots pines and heather moorland, with the scree slopes of Meall a' Bhuachaille rising behind it.

From what I understand, it was originally a croft (farmhouse) built in the 18th century. The Last Resident: The last person to actually live there was James Grant (known as Seumas Grannd). He was a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars and lived there until the late 1870s. Since he left, it has stood empty, eventually becoming an open shelter prior to being renovated and is now maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association (MBA).
